*** update*** Liefe and Haydee raised $473 for Safe Passage! Thanks to friends who baked such delicious treats and to everyone who braved the rain to come out and support Liefe and Haydee.
Liefe and Haydee are hosting the fifth annual bake sale to benefit Safe Passage on Saturday, May 17, 9-11am.
Liefe and Haydee, ages 11 and 8, sisters and proud supporters of Camino Seguro / Safe Passage, will bake and price items for the sale and will be on hand to greet customers and help them to a delicious treat. They will also have information about Safe Passage so that people can learn more about the important work done by Safe Passage. They worked with their grandmother and many friends to organize this event. Anyone wishing to donate baked goods can email Liefe and Haydee or call Kathy at 542-9736.
“Guatemala is special to me because I was born there,” explains Haydee, who is a second year student at Children’s House Montessori School in Camden. “And when I go back, I like to visit Safe Passage with my family.” The Temples support Safe Passage with many small acts- from bringing toothbrushes in their luggage when they travel to Guatemala to donating the spare change left behind at Clean Bee Laundry to sponsoring a first grade student.
Safe Passage empowers the poorest, at-risk children of families working in the community of the Guatemala City Garbage Dump, by creating opportunities and fostering dignity through the power of education. Safe Passage is a US-registered 501(c)(3) organization. Within a safe and caring environment, Safe Passage provides hundreds of children with a comprehensive and integrated program that fosters hope, good health, educational achievement, self-sufficiency, and confidence.

Bee-cause we love our customers and bee-cause our fabulous card readers make it possible to do this – we’ve lowered washer prices for our early morning customers. Any washer started between 7 and 8am is now 30% off. The discount applies to customers using quarters or swiping credit cards. What better way to start the day?
(Sorry, but the discount does not apply to Thing 1 or Thing 2 – our ozone washers which require attendant assistance to start.)

Investing in new equipment, Clean Bee Laundry of Camden, expands their equipment line to provide state of the art self-service laundry service.
Clean Bee Laundry of Camden is proud and excited to announce new investments in commercial washers and self-service payment systems. This week Clean Bee Laundry will add three large-capacity commercial washers to their line of laundry equipment. “The new washers are top of the line 60-pound SpeedQueens that can wash a week’s worth of laundry in under 20 minutes.” The company envisions that this will allow Clean Bee to more efficiently serve families, effectively manage larger projects including contracts with commercial clients and free up smaller machines for individuals.
In addition to the new washers, Clean Bee Laundry will be the first in the region to allow customers to pay for their washers and dryers using credit, debit cards and accept payment from mobile phones. Each machine will be equipped with a card reader giving customers the convenience and choice of using cards or traditional quarters. The installation of card readers is expected to take place by the middle of June.
New equipment also means Clean Bee Laundry has future plans to increase the size of their employment base and potentially hire more attendants in the Camden area. Broo Temple, owner of Clean Bee Laundry stated, “Each year we strive to provide the best in service and support for our customers. The addition of this new equipment and technology will allows Clean Bee to reach more customers and and make their laundry experience more efficient. Since creating Clean Bee Laundry, our goal has been to become the local leader and laundry service provider of choice. This announcement proves our vision is always priority.”
